The survey found that when it comes to searching for offers and discounts 62% of consumers like to use social media. However, when they’re looking for new products or services, the company website is where over half of them head to (51%).

And it’s not an ‘age-thing’. 48% of younger consumers surveyed (aged 20-30) said they’d use the company’s website compared to a mere 5% who preferred social media sites.

It’s clear from this report that your salon web site is your business showcase to the world. It’s your sales platform to attract new clients. So lavish some TLC on it if you want to stay ahead of the competition in town.

It’s a cliché but true nevertheless – first impressions count. Take a look at your website now through the eyes of a potential new customer. What strikes you?

You’re in the business of making people ‘look and feel fabulous’. So it stands to reason that your salon website needs to look fabulous too.

And it’s not just the imagery and layout. Check your website text. Spelling and grammatical errors reflect badly on your business. Although the survey revealed that social media is where many people go for offers this is still a must-have page for any hair or beauty salon website.

Ensure you have plenty of calls to action. By this I mean “call now, phone to book, enter here, join us on”. Have these throughout your website, not just on your Home Page, and link them back to your Offers Page. This encourages visitors to explore your website and discover more about your salon services.

And a final thought – check the basics. Is your phone number prominently displayed on every page and easy to find?
