FIRST IMPRESSIONS COUNTIf you want to attract new clients to your salon or spa then your website is your best marketing tool according to a recent report by the Economist. The survey found that when it comes to searching for offers and discounts 62% of consumers like to use social media. However, when they’re looking for new products or services, the company website is where over half of them head to (51%).
And it’s not an ‘age-thing’. 48% of younger consumers surveyed (aged 20-30) said they’d use the company’s website compared to a mere 5% who preferred social media sites.
Salon website design matters
It’s clear from this report that your salon web site is your business showcase to the world. It’s your sales platform to attract new clients. So lavish some TLC on it if you want to stay ahead of the competition in town.
It’s a cliché but true nevertheless – first impressions count. Take a look at your website now through the eyes of a potential new customer. What strikes you?
Here are 3 great salon marketing ideas for hair and beauty salons:
Good looks help market your salon
You’re in the business of making people ‘look and feel fabulous’. So it stands to reason that your salon website needs to look fabulous too.
Does it? Or does your Home Page make visitors hit the ‘back-button’ to return to their Google search, and your competitors. Be honest with yourself – no-one’s listening!
And it’s not just the imagery and layout. Check your website text. Spelling and grammatical errors reflect badly on your business. You’ve only a few brief seconds to catch visitors attention so invest in professional salon copywriting services. So many salon websites look the business, but are badly let down by poor clunky writing.
Make it easy for new salon clients
The survey found 77% of consumers often spend their time on company websites to compare prices and features. The Price Guide page being the third most visited page. Make it easy for would-be new clients to see your prices and read about your salon services and expertise.
Keep your price menu simple to read and navigate. And avoid using technical terms that potential clients may not understand – for instance if you’re a hairdressing salon, clients don’t always understand what a T-section is.
Salon marketing promotions
Although the survey revealed that social media is where many people go for offers this is still a must-have page for any hair or beauty salon website.
Ensure you have plenty of calls to action. By this I mean “call now, phone to book, enter here, join us on”. Have these throughout your website, not just on your Home Page, and link them back to your Offers Page. This encourages visitors to explore your website and discover more about your salon services.
And a final thought – check the basics. Is your phone number prominently displayed on every page and easy to find?
Your salon marketing goal is to stand out from the crowd and to do this you constantly need to re-assess and improve. I came across this quote which I think sums it up rather well.
“In business, the competition will bite you if you keep running; if you stand still, they will swallow you.”
