Seasons Spell Salon Promotions

When done right, coordinated salon promotions can generate a steady flow of guests year-round. The key to salon promotions is to “solve” the ever-changing beauty problems and needs throughout the calendar year. Create incentives that address holiday or seasonal needs of the skin, hair, beauty, and wellness each month of the year. Seasons and public holidays are at the heart of a successful salon marketing calendar.

Specials and promotions are simply a well-thought-out plan for your salon. Monthly promotions help keep clients and prospective customers aware of your salon, or “top of mind”. Make sure when they are motivated to make an appointment they think of you. Make sure your salon marketing message communicates value, the best offers are those that add value without a lot of cost.

Summer

Tame frizz and increase summer revenues by offering discounts on blowout services. Help clients beat the humidity with conditioning treatment and blow-out service specials. Target professional women and keep the service to 45 minutes for lunchtime hair polish at a reduced summer rate all summer long. This offer is the perfect example of value-added without a lot of costs.

Fall

Back–to-school promotions work well in August or September to attract college students, if your town or city hosts a large college campus this could equal loads of new and returning clients. Fall is also the season for high school homecoming dances, giving you an opportunity to offer specials for event hair, makeup, and nail services. Another idea for the month of October is Halloween-themed facial specials, complete with a mask, to attract business to your day spa. Encourage hair color business by encouraging guests to winterize summer highlights.

Winter

The cold winter months are the opportune time to cure dry hair, skin, and nails. Promote services that are healing and moisturizing. In December, sell $25 gift cards your customers can buy as holiday gifts, and reward them with a $5 card for themselves. The holidays mean parties and festivities, specials to offer include: makeup, hair, and nail services. To help January bookings advertise a pre-booking special –– give a discount to clients who call during December to schedule an appointment for January. For the month of February, looking gorgeous for Valentine’s Day is a great way to bump up winter numbers.

Spring

Spring is the time to promote new color trends and showcase color services. Use springtime to clear out retail inventory and make way for new products, try a retail offer like buy 2 get 1 free. In May make sure to create a mother-daughter special that will get both the daughter and the mother in your salon. Give a free gift to each mother who brings in her daughter for a manicure, haircut, or color.
